The first military issues were soon released in the first year of the developing Republic as various parts of China were finally put under the control of the new Sun Yat-sen government. It wasn’t very long after Yuan-Shi-Kai became president that his plans to become emperor of China became obvious and that divided China’s forces once again. Throughout the following years military forces under war lords severely taxed the unresting populace in the areas under their control.
These military issues were soon followed by the many communist issues which were first released in the early 1930’s and ceased in 1950 when the Chinese mainland became the Peoples Republic. Certain military issues are also to be found listed under the Provincial section and once determined as strictly military in nature they will be moved to this section. These listings are not virtually complete as new finds of this material are occasionally encountered. For further information refer to A Brief Illustrated History of Chinese Military Notes and Bonds by S. P. Ting, Taipei, Taiwan (1981).
NOTE: These phrases appear as overprints or in clauses used in principal heading on a number of notes. In most instances they are written horizontally but in some occasions they occur in two vertically written pairs.

P. Ting著《中国军用钞票及债券简明图史》(英文书名:A Brief Illustrated History of Chinese Military Notes and Bonds),1981年出版于台湾台北。
